Carmelo is the founder and co-managing partner of Truscello Nair LLP. He received his LL.B. from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom and his Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto, Ontario. He is a certified member of the Law Society of Ontario.

Carmelo has successfully represented clients in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice on serious criminal matters related to organized crime and project case investigations across Ontario. The position he takes in the defence of all clients is that preparation is an essential feature of any successful vindication. His attention to detail and strategic acumen have resulted in numerous successful outcomes for his clients.

What sets Carmelo apart is his commitment to defending his clients without judgment. He believes in the principle that everyone deserves a fair trial and a robust defence, regardless of their circumstances. His empathetic approach allows him to understand the nuances of each case and tailor his defence strategy to meet the unique needs of his clients.

As a result, Carmelo spends an unwavering amount of time getting to know his clients and their expectations to ensure he is resolute in representing their best interests, throughout the process.

The focus of his practice is criminal defence. Carmelo’s litigation experience includes defending individuals charged with criminal, quasi-criminal and provincial offences.

In addition to his criminal and quasi-criminal defence practice, Carmelo also takes on clients charged with provincial offences under the Highway Traffic Act, Canadian Automobile Insurance Act as well as providing representation to victims and witnesses of crime.

He is able to provide legal advice to his clients in Italian. Carmelo is an active member of the Criminal Lawyers Association, Canadian Italian Advocates Association, Advocates Society and The Recent Call Committee.
